I.BriefIntroductiontoHuaqiaoUniversity

HuaqiaoUniversitywasestablishedwiththeapprovaloftherevered ChinesePremierZhouEnlaiin1960.ItwasbasedinQuanzhou,FujianProvince,awell-knownhometowntomanyoverseasChinese.ItisthefirsthighereducationinstitutionintendedforandnamedafterHuaqiao.Asacomprehensiveuniversityincludedinthenationalpriorityproject,HQUisdirectlysupervisedbytheOverseasChineseAffairsOfficeoftheStateCouncil,andjointlyconstructedbytheOverseasChineseAffairsOfficeoftheStateCouncil,theFujianProvincialPeople'sGovernment,theQuanzhouMunicipalGovernmentandtheXiamenMunicipalGovernment.

HQUhastwocampuses,respectivelyinXiamenandQuanzhou.Theformer,dubbed“GlitteringPearlontheSea”ofChina,isrankedastheBestCityforHumanResidencebytheUnitedNations.Thelatter,dubbed“HubofEasternAsia”,islistedasamostfamoushistoricandculturalcityinChina.

Ratedas"Excellent"bytheMinistryofEducationinitsfirstUndergraduateTeachingPerformanceAssessment,HQUcurrentlyconsistsof28collegeswith94undergraduateprograms,amongwhich10haveachievedtheengineeringeducationcertification.Thereare27Master'sprogramsofthefirst-leveldisciplines,2Master'sprogramsofthesecond-leveldisciplinesand20professionalMaster'sprograms,togetherwith8Doctoralprogramsofthefirst-leveldisciplines,2Doctoralprogramsofthesecond-leveldisciplinesand5Post-doctoralresearchcentersintheuniversity.Theuniversityoffers12disciplinecategoriesincludingPhilosophy,Economics,Law,Education,Literature,History,Science,Engineering,Agriculture,Medicine,ManagementandArts,formingacoordinatelydevelopeddisciplinesystemthatcombinesartswithscience,integratessciencewithengineeringandcouplesengineeringwithmanagement.Theuniversityincorporates41stateorprovincialkeydisciplinesand17provincialpeakandplateaudisciplines,amongwhichEngineering,MaterialScienceandChemistryrankamongthetopone-percentinESI(EssentialScienceIndicators).In2018,theuniversityranked28thinthecomprehensiveuniversitylistofShanghaiRanking'sBestChineseUniversitiesRanking2018and86thonitsgenerallist.ShanghaiRanking'sBestChineseUniversitiesRanking2018includes4,999disciplinesfrom460universitiesintheChinesemainland,***paredwith19disciplinesin2017,20ofHQUhavebeenlistedin2018,ranking83rdamongthelisteduniversities.

HQUisamongthefirstChinesehighereducationinstitutionstobeauthorizedtoadmitoverseasChineseandforeignstudents.Currently,theuniversityhasapproximately30,000students,including5000overseasChineseandforeignstudentsfromHongKong,Macao,Taiwanand50foreigncountries.HQUactivelydevelopsinternationalcooperation,becomingpartnerswith200universitiesin50countriesfromthefivecontinents.TheuniversityisalsooneoftheofficiallyacknowledgeduniversitiesthatareenrollinginternationalstudentsfundedbytheChineseGovernmentScholarshipandhas84admissionofficesacrosstheglobe.

ChineseLanguageandCultureCollegeofHuaqiaoUniversityisateachingunitundertakingtheteachingtaskoftheChineselanguageandcultureeducationspecialty,oneofthefirstinstitutionsqualifiedbyChinaMinistryofEducationtoadmitoverseasstudents,oneofthefirstbasesfortheChineselanguageandcultureeducation,officiallyapprovedbytheStatecouncil’sOfficeofOverseasChineseAffairs,oneofthekeyschools,supportedbyChinaHanban(NationalOfficeofChinese),undertakethespecialmissionofteachingChinesetoadjacentcountries,andtheearliestHSKtestingcentreinFujianprovince.

ChineseLanguageandCultureCollegeofHuaqiaoUniversity,formerlycalledJimeiContinuationSchoolforOverseasStudents,establishedin1953bythefamousoverseasChineseleader,Mr.TanKaKee,entrustedbyChinesegovernment.TheStateCouncil’sOfficeofOverseasChineseAffairsmadeadecisionin1997thatJimeiContinuationSchoolbeincorporatedintoHuaqiaoUniversityasChineseLanguageandCultureCollege,combinedwiththedepartmentofteachingChineseasaforeignlanguageofHuaqiaoUniversity.Forover60years,ChineseLanguageandCultureCollegeiscommittedtoservingoverseasChineseandspreadingChineseCulture,followingMr.TanKaKee’sstrictschool-runningspirit,promotingChineseculture,andhascultivatedover80,000studentsfromover90countriesandregions.Presently,thecollegehasabout1,500foreignstudentsfromover50countriesandregions,suchasIndonesia,Thailand,thePhilippines,Malaysia,Vietnam,Laos,Myanmar,Mongolia,Korea,Japan,America,Poland,Nederland,Spanish,Italy,Russia,Ukraine,Angola,SriLanka,Mauritius,MadagascarandHongKong,MacaoandTaiwanofChina,andsoon.

II.BriefIntroductiontotheScholarshipfortheStudentsofOverseasChineseLanguageandCultureEducationSpecialty

1.FoundationBackgroundandApplicationObject

TheScholarshipfortheStudentsofOverseasChineseLanguageandCultureEducationSpecialtywassetupbytheStateCouncil’sOfficeofOverseasChineseAffairsin2005,especiallyintendedfortheoverseasChinesewhoareagedlessthan35andaimtoundertakethecareeroftheChineselanguageandcultureeducationaftercompletingthecoursesofthespecialty.

2.ApplicationMethod

Applicantsshouldapplyforthescholarshipviatheirlocalembassiesorconsulates,orcertainunitentrustedbyanembassyoraconsulate.ApplicantsshouldsignanagreementwiththeirlocaloverseasChinesecommunitiesorschoolstoguaranteecarryingonthecareeroftheChineselanguageandcultureeducationintheirnativecountriesforatleast5yearsaftergraduatingfromthisspecialty.

ThisScholarshipcoversfouryears’tuitionfees,andfouryears’accommodationfees,andacertainsumoflivingexpenses.

III.IntroductiontotheSpecialty

1.TeachingContentsandCultivationPurpose

TheChineselanguageandcultureeducationspecialtytakestheChineselanguage,literaryculture,andpedagogyasitsbasicteachingcontents,andaimsatcultivatingteachingtalentsandtalentedmanagerswhoareabletowhollyandsystematicallymastertheprofessionalknowledgeandskillsoftheChineselanguage,knowaboutChinesehistoricalculture,masterteachinglawsandmethodsoftheChineselanguageandcultureeducation,undertaketheworkoftheChineselanguageandcultureeducation,andpossesscertainresearchability.

2.FeaturesoftheSpecialty

ThegrogramisaimedtotrainChineseLanguageteachersandmanagementstaffforoverseaseducationinstitutions.Studentslearnsystematically subjectsconcerningChineselanguageandculture,languageteachingmethods,andwillbeequippedwithskillsandabilities requiredoftoteachChineselanguageabroad.

Theprogramdurationisfouracademicyears,andanacademiccreditsystemisadopted.Studentswhohavecompletedthestipulatedcreditsofthecultivationschemeandachievedascoreof210pointsinHSKLevel-5testwillbequalifiedforgraduationandgrantedbachelor’sdegreeineducation.

IV.AdmissionCandidatesandEntranceRequirement

OverseasChinesestudentswhobearseniorhighschoolorhigherdiplomaandaimtoundertaketheworkoftheChineselanguageandcultureeducation,canenrollforthisspecialty.Candidatesshouldbeagedlessthan35,providecertificatesofdecentconducts,cleancriminalrecords,andgoodhealthcondition.OverseasChinesestudentsshouldacquireforeignlong-termorpermanentrightofresidence,besidestherecordofhavingbeenresidedinaforeigncountryforover2yearsinrecent4years(countingbackfromtheregistrationdeadline)(havingbeenresidedinaforeigncountryupto9monthswillberatedas1year,butstudyingabroadorworkinginaforeigncountryisinvalid).Students,whomigratedfromtheChinesemainland,HongKong,Macao,orTaiwantoaforeigncountryasaforeignstudent,musthavebeenpossessingthevalidforeignpassportorverificationofnationalityforatleast4years,besidestherecordofhavingbeenresidedinaforeigncountryforover2yearsinrecent4years(countingbackfromtheregistrationdeadline).

V.Admission

Directlymakinganapplication,andaftertheverification,theexcellentcandidateswillbeadmitted.

VI.ApplicationProcedures

1.ApplicantsofthescholarshipforthestudentsoftheoverseasChineselanguageandcultureeducationspecialtypleasecontacttheirlocalChineseembassyorentrustedagents.

2.Self-supportingstudentscanmakeanapplicationbyarecommendedunit,arecommenderorbythemselves,andsubmittheapplicationmaterialstotheAdmissionOfficeoftheChineseLanguageandCultureCollegeofHuaqiaoUniversityinperson,bymail,byfax,orbyE-mail.

Students,whomigratedfromtheChinesemainland,HongKong,Macao,orTaiwantoaforeigncountryasaforeignstudent,musthavebeenpossessingthevalidforeignpassportorverificationofnationalityforatleast4years,besidestherecordofhavingbeenresidedinaforeigncountryforover2yearsinrecent4years(countingbackfromtheregistrationdeadline)(havingbeenresidedinaforeigncountryupto9monthswillberatedas1year,whichissubjecttothetimeofentryandexitsignature);andtherecent4years’(countingbackfromtheregistrationdeadline)theSearchResultofExit-EntryRecordsoftheexamineesthemselves,issuedbytheExit-EntryAdministrationofXiamenMunicipal(orQuanzhouMunicipal)PublicSecurityBureau.

4.Thegraduationcertificateorthecredentialofseniorhighschoolorevenhigherthanit,andeveryacademicyear’stranscriptshouldbenotarizedorauthenticatedbythelocalChineseembassyorconsulate.Iftheabovedocumentsarewritteninnon-Chineseornon-English,thentheyshouldbetranslatedintoChineseorEnglish.Theaboveoriginaldocumentswillbecheckedwhentransactingtheregistrationprocedures.

5.TheoriginalrecommendationletterfromthelocalChineseembassyorlocaloverseasChinesesocietiesandcommunities,orsecondaryschoolprincipals.

6.ThescholarshipapplicantsmustsubmitthecopyoftheagreementonreturningtotheirnativecountrytoundertakethecareeroftheChineselanguageandcultureeducation.Theaboveoriginaldocumentwillbecheckedwhentransactingtheregistrationprocedures.

7.PhysicalExaminationForm

Studentsarerequiredtotakeaphysicalexaminationintheirnativecountries’medicalinstitutionsandsecuretheirhealthcertificate,whichwillbesubmittedtothecollegetogetherwiththeirX-rayfilm,bloodexaminationrecord.

VIII.RegistrationDeadline

Forscholarshipstudents:theclosingdateisMay30,2019.Forself-supportingstudents: theclosingdateisJuly30,2019.

IX.TheTransactionofStudyVisa

OverseasChinesestudentsshouldgototheirlocalChineseembassiesorconsulatestotransactthestudentvisaproceduresbytakingAdmissionNotice,andforeignstudentsshoulddotheaboveaffairbytakingAdmissionNoticeandJW202Form.Within30daysafterenteringChina,allstudentsmustchangevisaXintoresidencepermit,andthefeesforthepermitandphysicalexaminationshouldbepayedatstudents’ownexpenses.

X.Insurance

InaccordancewiththeregulationoftheMinistryofEducation,foreignstudentswhointendtostudyinChinaforonesemesterorlongerareadvisedtobuycomprehensiveinsurancebeforeenteringChinaasinstructedinProceduresforInsurance.Theadmissionofficewillcheckthestudent’sinsurancestatements.
