Establishedin1958,TianjinUniversityofTraditionalChineseMedicine(TUTCM)isoneoftheearliestuniversitiesofTCMinChinaandtheonlyInternationalUniversityofTCMwhichisapprovedbyStateEducationCommittee(nowMinistryofEducation)in1992.TUTCMisalsothe“EducationalAidCenter”and“China-ASEANEducationalTrainingCenter”ofMinistryofEducation(MOE),TCMInternationalCooperationCenterofStateAdministrationofTraditionalChineseMedicine(SATCM)andthedirectorcommitteememberoftheEducationInstructionCommitteeoftheWorldFederationofChineseMedicineSocieties.Adheringthemottoof“strengtheningmoraleducationandpursuingacademicstudies,inheritingandinnovating”,TUTCMhasdevelopedintoacomprehensiveuniversityspecializinginTCMeducationandcoversextensiveareasofstudy,namelyasMedicine,Science,Arts,Management,Engineering,Educationandetc.

TheUniversityhasdistinguishedteachingstaffandsufficientresourcesforstudents’internship.Currentlyithas2NationalKeyDisciplinesofAcupuncture&MoxibustionandTuinaandTCMInternalMedicine,4affiliatedhospitalsand5teachinghospitals.Amongthem,theFirstAffiliatedHospitalisaNationalTCMClinicalResearchBase,theNationalAcupunctureClinicalResearchCenter,theNationalAcupunctureClinicalFoundationandtheNationalProvincialDemonstrationHospitalofTraditionalChineseMedicine;theSecondAffiliatedHospitalisthetreatmentcenterforChinesemedicaldifficultdiseaseandhassignificantadvantageforgynecologicalandencephalopathydiseases;BaokangHospitalandotherteachinghospitalshaveuniquetreatmentfeaturesinrehabilitationmedicine,orthopedics,communityhealthofTCM,integrativemedicineandetc..

TheUniversityhasextensiveinternationalexchangesandcooperation.Itaimstocultivateinternationalappliedtalentsinclinicwithsolidtheoreticalfoundationandexcellentclinicalskillswhichmakeitenjoyahighreputationworldwidely.IthasformedTCMinternationalizationtalentstrainingsystemwherethebacheloreducationisthemainpart.Thesystemalsocoversmasteranddoctoraleducationandshortandlongtermcertificatestudies.Everyyear，thereareover2,000internationalstudentsfrommorethan60countriesandregionscomingtostudyatTUTCM.

ThenewcampusofTUTCMisunderconstructionwhichislocatedbyTuanboLakeinJinghaiDistrict,Tianjin.ItisexpectedtomoveintothenewcampusfromSeptember,2016.Thenewcampuscoversanareaofmorethan173hectaresandthebuildingareaisabout600,000squaremeters.ThenationallylargestmuseumofTCM,ChineseMedicineBotanicalGarden,thenationallymostadvancedScienceandTechnologyParkofTCMandInternationalEducationCenterofTCMareallunderconstructioninthenewcampus,providingamoreexcellentstudyandlivingenvironmentforstudents.
