Establishedin1958,TianjinUniversityofTraditionalChineseMedicine(TUTCM)isoneoftheearliestuniversitiesofTCMinChinaandtheonlyoneInternationalSchoolofTCMwhichisapprovedbyStateBoardofEducation(nowMinistryofEducation)in1992.TUTCMisalsothe“EducationalAidCenter”ofMinistryofEducation(MOE),TCMInternationalCooperationCenterofStateAdministrationofTraditionalChineseMedicine(SATCM),“China-ASEANEducationalTrainingCenter”andthechairmancommitteememberoftheEducationInstructionCommitteeoftheWorldFederationofTCM.Adheringthemottoof“strengtheningmoraleducationandpursuingacademicstudies,inheritingandinnovating”,TUTCMhasdevelopedintoacomprehensiveuniversityspecializinginTCMeducationandcoversextensiveareasofstudy,namelyasMedicine,Science,Arts,Management,Engineering,Educationandetc.

TheUniversityhasdistinguishedteachingstaffandsufficientresourcesforstudents’internship.Currentlyithas2NationalKeyDisciplinesofAcupuncture&MoxibustionandTuinaandTCMInternalMedicine,4affiliatedhospitalsand5teachinghospitals.Amongthem,theFirstAffiliatedHospitalisaNationalClinicalResearchBase,theNationalResearchCenterforAcupunctureClinic,theNationalAcupunctureClinicalFoundationandtheNationalProvincialDemonstrationHospitalofTraditionalChineseMedicine;theSecondAffiliatedHospitalisthetreatmentcenterforChinesemedicaldifficultdiseaseandhassignificantadvantageforgynecologicalandencephalopathydiseases;BaokangHospitalandotherteachinghospitalshaveuniquetreatmentfeathersinrehabilitationmedicine,Orthopedics,CommunityHealthofTCM,IntegrativeMedicineandetc..

TheUniversityhasextensiveinternationalexchangesandcooperation.Itaimstocultivateinternationalappliedtalentsinclinicwithsolidtheoreticalfoundationandexcellentclinicalskillswhichmakeitenjoyahighreputationworldwidely.IthasformedTCMinternationalizationtalentstrainingsystemwherethebacheloreducationisthemainpart.Thesystemalsocoversmasteranddoctoraleducationandshortandlongtermcertificatestudies.Thereareover2,000foreignstudentsfrommorethan60cometostudyatTUTCMeveryyear.
