Location:50 kilometers from Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province, 30 kilometers from Tianhe  International Airport.

History and culture:Hubei is the cradle of Chu Culture and Xiaogan is famous for the birthplace of Dong Yong—— a legendary man known for his utmost filial piety.

Population and Area:Xiaogan covers 8910 square kilometers with a population of more than 480,000.

Tourism Resources:The Shuangfeng Mountain, Yingcheng Hot spring, the Tianzi  Lake are located in the suburbs of Xiaogan.

Hubei Engineering University（HBEU）was established upon the approval by the National Ministry of Education, and so far it has 74 years of history. The university boasts a picturesque campus which covers an area of 1,400-odd mu and it has a floorage of 520,000 square meters. It is located in the downtown of Xiaogan City famous for the birthplace of Dong Yong—— a legendary man known for his utmost filial piety, a city in the center of 1+8 Wuhan City Circle.

HBEU attaches great importance to the development of disciplines and have formed a complete and optimized disciplinary system covering 10 disciplines: engineering, science, literature, economics, law, education, agronomy, management, art theory and medicine. Now, it comprises 66 undergraduate specialties, 17 academic schools withbachelor degree awarding powers for the existing 25,000-odd full-time students from 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. In 2015, the university was named the National Civilization Unit.

HBEUis adhering to the opening-up policy in running the schools and carrying on a wide range of international academic exchanges and cooperation. It has established friendly co-operative ties and academic exchange programs with more than 30 international education institutions in the countries such as America, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Australia, etc. It has launched the international cooperative education programs for cultivating three-year and four-year students with foreign universities such as British Anglia Ruskin University, British University of Wolverhampton, etc. And it has attracted batches of internationalstudents coming for study.

3. Effectiveness

a. Teaching Materials and Techniques are constantly evaluated and updated to improve students’ learning.

b. Small and engaging classes (typically 20 students) provide an interactive and intimate learning environment.

c. Real-life situations are created to facilitate and improve students’ learning.

d. Diverse classroom activities, seminars, and social events with a focus on different aspects of Chinese culture provide an enjoyable and effective learning experience.

4. Programs & Courses

a. Chinese Language Programsand Non-degree Study  Target Students:People who want to learn the Chinese language, experience the colorful Chinese campus life and culture

Target Students:Applicants with a senior school diploma.

5.Tuition andotherFee 

a. Registration Fee (including entry examination fee): RMB 500

b. Tuition: (If all the fees are paid in once, students can enjoy a 30% discount of the total tuition fees)

c. Book Fees: will be charged according to what actually occurs.

d. Accommodation(per year): RMB 2400/double-bed room, RMB 4800/single room,

RMB 9,600/single flat, two-bedroom-flat with air-conditioner, fridge, washing machine, hot water, kitchen

e.Insurance: RMB 600 per year

f. Eating: eating at campus canteen costs around RMB 1000 per month.

g. SecurityDeposit (refundable if no damage occurred to the dorm): RMB1000

6.Scholarship:

a. The earliest applicants or the excellent students can apply for President's Scholarship for International Students. The details of President's Scholarship for International Students are as follow:

①The HBEU General Scholarship (which will cover 15% of the total number of international students):

For language program: RMB 4500—9400

For BA/ BSc or BEng(Undergraduate in English): RMB 5000—8000

For Arts and Design (Undergraduate in English): RMB 5000—8000

②If you passed HSK4, you can apply for full scholarship for Chinese major.

b. Excellent students may also apply for Hubei Province Governmental Scholarship for Excellent International Students.

7. Application Procedure

●Step 1

Study more about the school and the program of HBEU. Get university and program information and read details in our website before starting your application. Make a decision on which program and which degree you are going to apply for.

●Step 2

Send application documents. Send necessary documents, including transcripts, certificate, application form, passport, etc.

●Step 3

Get the offer letter. Get your offer letter within 7 days if application documents are qualified.

●Step 4

Pay the fee. Complete the partial payment to keep you in the waiting list. Please send us the scanned copy of the receipt within applicant’s name and passport number after payment.

●Step 5

Get the result. Usually it takes 3-4 weeks to get visa documents( JW202 form) from the government after Hubei Engineering University gets your partial fee in it bank account.

●Step 6

Prepare for your travel to China. If you get all visa documents, you can prepare your visa application and flight booking. Please inform the International Students Office the details of your flights 5 days before your departure to China. Pick-up fee will be at students’ own expense.

9. Routes

How to get to our school: From Wuhan to our school (湖北工程学院，孝感市，交通大道272号)

●By Taxi:

A taxi will take you directly to our school（No.272 Jiaotong Road, Xiaogan City）. Which currently costs RMB180-300, depending on where you depart.

●By Train:

1. You can take a normal speed train from Wuchang Railway Station (武昌火车站) or Hankou Railway (汉口火车站) Station to Xiaogan Railway Station (Attention: Not Xiaogan North Station！) (孝感站，非孝感北站！）.

2. You may also take an inter-city high speed train from Hankou Railway Station (汉口火车站) to XiaoganEastRailway Station(孝感东站).Then you can take a taxi to our school, which costs around RMB 15 yuan and approximately 15 minutes.

NOTICE:DO NOTtake a train bound for Xiaogan North Station. (不要到孝感北站)

●By Bus:

There are buses from two stations commuting between Xiaogan and Wuhan. Two bus stations (武昌宏碁长途汽车客运站、武昌傅家坡长途汽车站) are located in Wuchang District and there is also a bus station (汉口长途汽车客运站) located in Hankou District.

Of the three, we recommend you to take trains. Show the taxi driver the station’s name in Chinese and make sure he/she knows your destination.

●By Air:

If you are to come here by air. You will arrive at Wuhan  Tianhe International  Airport. You can take either an inter-city high speed train or a taxi to our school. The train is available from 10:00 to 21:00 with a ticket price of RMB 13 yuan. Or you can take a taxi directly to our school.
