BIFT 2014 International Student Enrollment Prospectus

of Chinese Language Learning

Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) , founded in 1959, is China’s premiere educational facility associated with fashion, mainly specializing in art and technology. With defining characteristics, BIFT is a public full-time higher education institution where art, technology, economics, management and other convergent disciplines can interact successfully.

Since 1997, the School of International Education of BIFT has been providing bachelor degree programs in fashion design, modeling, visual communication, environmental design, product design, painting, sculpture art design, international trade and Chinese language training courses for thousands of international students from the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, Australia, Russia, Korea, Ukraine, Japan, Denmark, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Argentina, Chile, etc. and Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

As the solely official language of China, the Chinese language has attracted more and more attention and adoration by foreigners with its long history and culture.The School of International Education of BIFThas been conducting Chinese language teaching over a decade. According to various demands, multi-level courses in long-term、short -term and specialty course has been set up. Meanwhile, it also arranges specialty courses such as Chinese painting、calligraphy、Chinese fashion culture and language practices etc., which aims to promote the Chinese language and its culture to the whole world.

Ⅰcourse category

1. long-term class

①level: elementary、intermediary、advanced ( see the attached table 1 )

According to the student’s basis of Chinese learning, the School of International Education of BIFT has set up three levels, elementary，intermediary，and advanced .

②objective : the primary class mainly focus on the practice of the basic knowledge of Chinese. The medium class intends to improve both reading and writing skills based on the further consolidation of the studen’s basic knowledge of the Chinese language. The advanced class pays more attention to guide the students to learn more about the Chinese society and culture

③period: above 6 months (one term)

④curriculum: teaching by combining the spoken and listening course with general classes. Meanwhile, a practical activity concerning Chinese culture or extra-curricular language practice will be arranged each week.

2. short-term class

①level: it all depends as the students may be.

②Objective: further consolidate the student’s basic Chinese knowledge. Also improve their writing and reading skills by special intensive practice, so as to meet the student’s demand.

③Period: four weeks、six weeks、three months

④Course: Chinese listening and spoken class forelementary、intermediary、advanced, intensive reading classes, Chinese calligraphy and writing etc.

3. Specialty course

①level: it all depends as the students may be.

②objective: based on the consolidation of the basic Chinese knowledge, to enhance the compressive application of Chinese in definite areas.

③period: two weeks、three weeks

④Course: HSK tutoring class before the exam、newspaper and current affairs class、business class、china ethnic fashion culture and china traditional culture etc., and other special course according to the student’s demands.

4. Specialty culture camp

opening a short-term training class regarding “Chinese fashion culture appreciation”、“Chinese traditional clothing technique”、“research of Chinese fashion market ”、”lecture of Chinese calligraphy and painting ”、and various summer camps and winter camps will be open from time to time, so that the student could feel the charm of Chinese culture.( the detailed enrollment schedule will be informed )

ⅡTeaching Hours

Four hours every Monday、Tuesday、Wednesday and Friday mornings; once every two weeks an investigation of Chinese culture and extra-curricular language practice class will take place every Thursday morning .

ⅢApplication  Requirements

Willing to abide by Chinese law and regulation, the school discipline; pay respect to Chinese social costume and habits.

***: download and fill in a BIFT application form “for student to study in China” from our website , and then send in the filled form to gjy@***.cn.

2. On-site: get and fill in BIFT application form for the foreign student from the school office.

ⅥEnrollment Procedure

1. Fill in the BIFT registration form for foreign student

2. provide the original copy of the applicant’s latest diploma、passport、and the original temporary residence registration form;

3.The one ,who holding non-residence permit visa, should provide the physical examination form , and apply for the residence permit within 30 days.

4. If the applicant is under 18 years old, he/she should offer the original of notarization、the photocopy of birth certificate and its Chinese version with seal of the translation company、the passport and ID of the guardian; if the guardian posses a Beijing ID(HU KOU), he/she must provide the residence permit; if the guardian isn’t Chinese, he/she needs to provide a copy of their work visa in Beijing.

5. Five color photos  3.5*5.3cm( white or light blue background)

6. Pay the admission fee and the tuition of the first-term.

Assess the scholarship winner by attendance rate、performance in class and the test results

ⅧBoarding

The school of International education provides foreign student dormitory with the option of a double room or triple room, which is equipped withair conditioner、TV、shower、washroom and part of daily necessaries，while some with kitchen. There is an auto- laundry shared by all the foreign students.

1. subway lines

Get off at Guangximen Station by subway Line 13, exchange at Dongzhimen Station Line 2, then you may walk to school; Get off at Shaoyaoju Station on Subway Line 10, then you may walk to school.
