Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) was founded in 1964. As one of eight such universities in China, it offers a number of language and cultural programs to Chinese and overseas students of various educational backgrounds. The main campus and Binhai campus occupy an area of 1040 mu with a floor space of nearly 200,000 square meters. Most of its buildings are in the classical and elegant Western European style. The clean and quiet campus is an ideal place for the teaching and study of foreign languages, of international trade and economics, and for foreign studies and academic research. The university offers more than 30 programs in 20 specialties, namely, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, Italian, Swahili, Chinese Language & Culture, Journalism, World Economy and Trade, Law, Finance, Educational Technology, and Information Management and Information Systems, Administrative Management, Advertisement, Mass Communication, Tourism Management, Translating and Interpreting, Animation. TFSU is authorized to confer Master Degrees. The university is associated with many international universities and benefits from the interaction and exchange. 一、招生类别及申请条件

I. Scholarship Category and Application Requirement

一学年研修生

向孔子学院（课堂）优秀学员，HSK考试成绩优秀者，“汉语桥”世界大、中学生中文比赛优胜者，各国汉语教师，各国大学中文专业优秀学生，或有志于从事国际汉语教育的人士提供，招生对象须为非中国籍，年龄一般在16至35周岁之间。学习专业为汉语言文学，入学时间为2013年秋季，资助期限为一学年。申请者在孔子学院学习时间应达到120学时以上，或新HSK成绩不低于三级180分。

Scholarship for One-Academic Year Students The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), outstanding performers on HSK, winners of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, Chinese language teachers worldwide, and outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world, or those who intend to become Chinese teachers. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens aged from 16 to 35 and in good health. The scholarship winner will study Chinese Language and Literature at TFSU.  The scholarship winner may choose to study majors including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy. The time of entrance is autumn 2013 and the grant term is one academic year. Applicants should complete their study at a Confucius Institute for over 120 hours, or achieve a score of at least 180 on the new HSK (level 3).

  一学期研修生

 向孔子学院（课堂）优秀学员，“汉语桥”世界大、中学生中文比赛优胜者，海外本土汉语教师、大学中文专业优秀学生、HSK考试成绩优秀者提供，学习专业包括汉语言文学、中国历史和中国哲学，入学时间为2013年秋季或2014年春季，资助期限为一学期。申请者HSK成绩须不低于二级120分、HSKK成绩不低于初级40分，或在孔子学院学习时间达到60学时以上。

Scholarship for One-Semester Students The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), winners of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, overseas local Chinese language teachers, outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world, and outstanding performers on the HSK. The scholarship winner may choose to study majors including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy. The time of entrance is autumn 2013 or spring 2014 and the grant term is one semester. Applicants should achieve a score of at least 120 on the HSK (level 2) and at least 40 on the HSKK (elementary level), or complete their study at a Confucius Institute for over 60 hours.

二、奖学金资助内容及标准

II. Scholarship Coverage and Criteria

孔子学院奖学金按资助内容包括：注册费、学费、基本教材费、一次性安置费（1500元/人）、生活费(1400元/月/人)，提供住宿、门诊医疗服务和来华留学生综合保险。录取前已在华学习半年以上者，不再发给一次性安置费。往返机票费用由学生个人承担。

Scholarship winners are exempt from registration fees, tuition, fees for basic learning materials, accommodation fees on campus, and are provided with a one-off resettlement subsidy（1500RMB/person）, monthly allowance (1400RMB/person/   month), outpatient medical service and comprehensive insurance for foreign students studying in China. The one-off resettlement subsidy will not be provided to those who have studied in China for more than half a year before being enrolled. Scholarship winners have to pay for the traveling fee to Tianjin, China by themselves.

三、招生流程

III. Recruitment Procedures

1.自本办法发布之日起，申请者可登陆孔子学院奖学金网站（http://cis.***）注册个人账号，查询接收院校（天津外国语大学）及专业信息（汉语言文学），在线填写、提交《孔子学院奖学金申请表》（样表见附件1），同时将纸质打印件连同其它材料（见第四条）一并递交所属的推荐机构。

1. From the issue date of the Procedures, applicants should log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website athttp://cis.***     http://cis.***/, set up an individual account, read information and introduction of host institute（Tianjin Foreign Studies University）and major（Chinese Language and Literature）, complete and submit the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form (see Attachment 1) online, print out the Form and submit it to their recommending institution  along with other application materials (see Article 4).

2.推荐机构须于4月25日前将符合条件者的申请材料（电子扫描件或原件）寄达第一、第二志愿接收院校，同时将推荐人选名单（模板见附件2）报汉办备案。（第一志愿请填写天津外国语大学）

2. Recommending institutions shall send the application materials of qualified applicants (e-scanning copy or original copy) to those host institutes of the candidate’s first and second choices and submit the candidate name list (see Attachment 2) to Hanban by April 25^th2013.( the candidate’s first choice must be Tianjin Foreign Studies University, otherwise, we can’t see the candidate’ information in the system)

3.接收院校负责审核申请者入学资格，并于5月25日前向汉办提交符合条件的奖学金留学生预录取名单（模板见附件3）。

3. Host institutes (TFSU) are responsible for reviewing the qualification of applicants and submitting the proposed enrollment name list of qualified candidates (see Attachment 3) to Hanban by May 25^th2013.

4.汉办组织专家进行综合评审，对符合条件者授予奖学金，并于6月25日前在奖学金网站公布获奖者名单，同时经推荐机构通知申请者本人。

4. Hanban will organize an expert panel to make the final selection and publish the name list of successful applicants on the Scholarship website by June 25^th2013, which will be informed to applicants through recommending institutions.

5.接收院校于7月1日前将《录取通知书》、《报到须知》、《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW202表）等入学材料寄达推荐机构，由推荐机构转交申请者本人。

5. The host institutes (TFSU) will post “Admission Notice”, “Enrollment Instructions”, “Visa Application Form for Foreigners to Study in China" (JW202 Form) and other related materials to successful applicants through their recommending institutions by July 1^th2012.

IV. Application Documents

申请者须提交以下材料：

Applicants shall submit the following documents:

1．《孔子学院奖学金申请表》。

1. Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form

2．护照照片页复印件。

2. Photocopy of Passport Photo Page

3．申请陈述。须用中文介绍汉语学习背景、来华学习计划及目标等，不少于800字。

3. Application Statement:  stating applicant's Chinese language learning background, study plan and aim in China It shall be written in Chinese and no less than 800 words.

4．HSK成绩报告复印件。

4. Photocopy of New HSK Result Report

5．高学历和成绩证明。申请者须提交经过公证的高学历或在校学习证明。

5. Diploma and Transcripts. Applicants shall submit notarized highest education diplomas attained or proof of study.

6．推荐信及承诺书。未建孔子学院国家的有关高校中文专业学生，须另附校长签发的推荐信。

6. Reference Letter and Letter of Commitment. Students attending Chinese language programs of universities in countries with no Confucius Institutes established shall attach a reference letter signed and issued by the university President.

7．未满18周岁的申请者，须提交委托在华法定监护人的相关法律文件。

7. Applications under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of entrusted legal guardians in China.

8．“汉语桥”世界大、中学生中文比赛来华复赛获奖者须提供奖学金证书复印件和驻外使（领）馆教育、文化处（组）出具的推荐函。各国分赛区优胜者须提供获奖证明和赛区主办单位出具的推荐函。

8. Winners of the finals of the“Chinese Bridge”Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students in China shall submit the duplicate of scholarship certificate and reference letter provided by educational and cultural offices (sections) of Chinese embassies (consulates). Winners of preliminary rounds of the“Chinese Bridge”Proficiency Competitions in their countries shall provide award proof and reference letter provided by the organizers.

五、入学

V. Entrance

1．奖学金获得者须根据接收院校规定按时到校报到。无故逾期未报到者，奖学金资格不予保留。

1. The scholarship winners shall register at the host institutes before the deadline set by the institutes. Scholarships will not be kept for those who do not register on time without reasonable cause.

2．入学体检不合格者，奖学金资格将被取消。

2. Scholarships will be canceled for those who cannot pass the health examination.
